Activities:

Weekly Physical Activities
The following activites take place in rain, shine, or even snow.
They each involve running, run/walking, or walking 3 to 5 km.
We use John Stanton's conditioning program to gradually increase participants' fitness levels starting from wherever the participant is.

Sunday Mornings, 10:00 a.m.
Meet at the Riverdale Perk coffee shop.
(corner of Withrow and Logan Ave.)

"West End PhACS Group"
Saturday Afternoons, 1:00 p.m.

Meet at the Brown Sugar Cafe
(about 2 1/2 blocks West of Dufferin and Queen St. on the North side of Queen St.)

Wednesday Evenings, 7:00 p.m.

(corner of Danforth and Logan Ave.)

Monthly Meetings
Business and social meeting is held every 2 months with a free dinner.

Events
From April to October, PhACS members take part in local run/walk events such as the Nissan Challenge, Backs in Motion, or Don River Run for Recovery. Entry fees are paid for participants by PhACS.

Research Activities
PhACS is sometimes involved in research activites around mental health and fitness. For example, PhACS collaborated with two researchers from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Dr. Andy Hathaway and Kari Ala-leppilampi, on an innovative new study to explore the benefits and challenges of recovery through fitness within a community based group setting. In depth interviews, focus groups, and active involvement of group members is likely to yield findings that will promote and enhance the group even further!
